With industrialization and globalization evolving more and more each day and our planet’s resources being explored to the limit, some rules and regulations were created in order to protect the environment from the worst side effects of this resource requirements: pollution. The environmental pollution has many forms but the release of harmful substances to the environment is without doubt the one that causes more damage to our surroundings.

MARE is a team that was created in the class of Introduction to Electromechanical Project at Universidade da Beira Interior and so has the primary goal of verifying if these rules are being respected in our sea resources and even in our rivers. For that purpose, we have created three different concepts that are now being studied in terms of implementation:

→ A floating sea vessel
→ A submergible sea vessel

These two vessels will pursue potential environmental criminals without being detected, analyzing water for potential pollution and collecting samples as proof. Upon detection of pollution the vessel will communicate with the base on land or on another vessel warning about the problem.

→ A probe for measuring pollution level on rivers and sea currents.

One of these concepts will reach prototype phase.
